Mindfulness is described as focus on the present moment without judgement. It allows us to bring stillness to our perpetually busy minds, explore our internal experiences, while activating our rest/digest, and tend/befriend neurological systems. Research has shown that spending time in a mindful state is extraordinarily helpful to our overall happiness and wellbeing.
Horses are very large, social prey animals who seek peacefulness. In order to survive, they are very present and alert to their environment, and have to focus on the present moment. They seek a state of “groundedness” (or “zero”) and encourage those around them to find that state of calm, as its easier for them to be calm in the presence of others who are calm. As herd animals, they invite us into their herd, and draw us to a mindful way of being.
Vanessa Lane and Susanne Haseman invite you to bring the peacefulness of horses to support a time of mindfulness in Horse Assisted Mindfulness Circles. Vanessa and Susanne have over 20 years of horse and leadership experience for therapy, education and wellness groups. We welcome you to join others in spending some time with the wonderful horses at First Light Farm in
Cornish, NH. No prior horse or mindfulness experience is needed, but
it is welcomed if you have it! There will be no charge, and donations will be welcomed.
If interested in attending, please call Susanne at 603-675-2678 or email Susanne.Haseman@FirstLightFarm.com to reserve a spot, ask questions, find out what you need to bring, and get directions to the farm. Please RSVP before coming!
We look forward to seeing you there, Susanne Haseman & Vanessa Lane
